Elf culture bits! Something I should be drawing more often
These beasts were bred through thousands of years from a smaller animal still used as a kind of hunting "dog". The coarse back fur protected their ancestors from the harsh sun, but in these it is a little bit degenerated, it probably varies. Their big paws run well over sand and rock, they have thick claws that are rarely sharp. They are very good natured and not at all vicious (due to their breeding), though they are carnivores. They may not be warmblooded, their skin is also quite lizard-like and even rugged on the feet. They're very social and stick to their pack when not with an elf. They clearly consider the elves who keep them as part of their family. Like cats, they are fairly affectionate; they sleep in piles and groom and pet each other. I think I will draw them some more so I can finalize their anatomy more. They're inspired by greyhounds.
A bridle is never used, but the saddle design may not be final. I couldn't find any knee stirrups, I think they exist though.
